Welcome to SaaS thoughts

Whether you call it Software as a Service (SaaS), Managed Service Provider (MSP) or On-Demand Services, your organization uses the service running “in the cloud”. This blog will discuss these services, their benefits, drawbacks and operations. Are we biased? Yes. We believe that some services make sense for most organizations. Email security is one of those. However as Mark Twain said, “All generalizations are false, even this one.” Each Tuesday we will post information and questions about Software as a Service. Occasionally, we will have a "Guest Post" from either a consultant or vendor posting her/his thoughts on Managed Services generally as well as some degree of specificity based on her/his unique perspective. We encourage your insights, comments and feedback. Welcome.

Postini Email Security users can now call 1-877-603-0301 to gain the best advice available on maintaining and migrating their email content filtering, encryption and archiving with no loss of service.

August 20, 2012 – Following the recent announcement by Google that it is transitioning “Postini” to be part of Google Apps, but slowly, by the end of 2013. Blended Systems, (dba SaasExperts.net) has launched a free impartial telephone help-line open to Google/Postini business customers.

This seems like “Déjà vu all over again”, says Bob Stevens, CIO of Blended Systems. “We just migrated thousands of our clients’ users from Webroot’s Email Security Service. The good news for our clients is that this transition will be smoother. About half of our clients made the decision to migrate to the new service when Webroot exited the email protection business last year and are quite happy.”

In September 2011, Blended Systems (dba SaasExperts.net) undertook a comprehensive technical and commercial review of the Email and Web Security as a Service (SaaS) market. We have completed intensive due diligence on leading vendors to identify a range of solutions that best fit our customers’ specific needs, all with minimum migration service disruption. The vendor portfolio comprises: Postini, MX Logic, MailDistiller, ZixCorp, Sonian Email Archive, Hosted Exchange 2010, ESET endpoint protection, Workbooks CRM, Sophos as well as Google Apps for Business.

“We have strong knowledge of the email security and other SaaS solutions and are able to offer the best advice on what, how and when to migrate user’s protection,” commented Stevens. He continued: “We always look to find a constructive and immediate way to help customers and share our understanding of how this development impacts their operations and review the options open to them both technically and commercially.”

The advice line will be handled by the Blended Systems support and technical team who will answer questions and any concerns around Webroot Email Security, other Webroot security services and information on alternative security solutions. Advice on seamless migration options and recommended timescales is also available.

Inquiries can be made by email by going to: End-of-Life Helpline or by calling 877-603-0301.
